Effective Schools
The Effective Schools Model is based on the conviction that all children, regardless of race, socioeconomic status, or gender, can and will learn the required curriculum. The model provides a framework for school reform based on seven correlates. The seven correlates provide schools with a comprehensive framework for identifying, categorizing, and solving the problems that schools and school districts face.
Under the Effective Schools Model, each school, through a faculty-administrator-parent-community team-planning approach, uses student achievement data and the seven correlates to develop and implement a long-range improvement plan. In addition, the model promotes district-wide, systemic restructuring for continuous improvement ensuring that every child has access to a quality education and that each child has an equal educational opportunity. Strategic planning to implement the Effective Schools process will help sustain school improvement year after year.
The University of Oklahoma Center for Effective Schools helps implement the Effective Schools Model. This model enables schools/districts to operationalize all comprehensive reform/restructuring and improvement efforts around the interrelated seven Correlates. This process keeps the focus learner centered while the organization experiences change and increased effectiveness
